I’m sure that was very annoying,but as much as both of you travel I am surprised you haven’t invested in a good quality noise canceling headphones for both of you.
Long distance train travel, even among locals, is considered to be the worst type of transport means in Vietnam, even long distance coach ranks better than the train. Train track noises, disturbances from other passengers, painfully slow cruising speed all add up to a rather unwelcoming experience onboard. Until God knows when, wait for the high speed rail project to finish and then reconsider train travel in Vietnam. Enjoy your Vietnam holiday!

You can go to laos or Indonesia,they have trains much better than Vietnam build recently
